This year marks the 125th anniversary of our grand opening back at the turn of the century in 1900. At the time, The Lenox towered over our little corner of Boston, with the Boston Albany Railroad station immediately behind the hotel and horse & buggies traversing the streets.

Independent to our core, The Lenox was built by Lucius Boomer, manager of the first Waldorf-Astoria hotel in New York, and named after the family of Lady Sarah Lennox, who was courted by King George III. When we opened our doors in 1900, electric lights were an exciting luxury throughout the building and modern iron & concrete framing allowed us to rise a staggering 11 stories above the surrounding buildings.
